Description

Die Plastik zeigt einen Arbeiter mit dem Scherdegen am Gerberbaum beim Entfleischen der Tierhaut. Sockelinschrift: "Ihrem ersten Arbeiter und genialen Förderer / zum 50 jährigen Arbeitsjubiläum / Betriebsführung und Gefolgschaft der Fritz Häuser A.-G." Der Text lässt die Vermutung zu, dass die Plastik ein Geschenk der Belegschaft für Fritz Häuser (1873-1853) war, der 1889 den väterlichen Gerbereibetrieb in Backnang übernommen und bis zum Beginn des Zweiten Weltkrieges zu einem der größten Unternehmen der deutschen Lederbranche ausgebaut hat.
