An African club from dark ironwood that is coated with colour and has a textured surface. The club has the shape of a cane and is carved from one piece. The upper end is bent to the handle approaching an angle of 90 degrees. It thickens and ends with a smooth and round surface.
The club was a gift from Colonel August Schradin to the Gewerbemuseum (Museum of Applied Arts) Ulm in 1916. Reportedly, it comes from Tanzania from the region of the Ukerewe Island on the southern shore of the Lake Victoria. Probably, Schradin has not acquired the object on site but has obtained it as a gift or purchased in trade.
