Das zweiteilige Kleid mit hochgeschlossenem tailliertem Oberteil und bodenlangem Rock ist um 1900 in Tuttlingen für eine Hochzeit angefertigt worden. Schwarze Braukleidung war bis ins 20. Jahrhundert hinein vor allem im Kleinbürgertum und der Arbeiterschaft üblich, da das schwarze Kleid nach der Hochzeit als "Sonntagsstaat" weiter getragen werden konnte.
